The latest in the SweetWater Dank Tank series, “The Price Is Wrong,” features likenesses of Bob Barker and his famous spinning wheel on the label. The bottle alone takes me back to watching Happy Gilmore with the Adam Sandler/Bob Barker fight scene. The Price Is Wrong, comes in at a fairly strong 9% ABV. I’m writing this review while I’m finishing up a 22oz bomber, and I’ve said it many times lately, but this is another strong beer that goes down really smoothly. Here’s the details…
Yeah, if you read that, and you’re something like me, you’re like… “what the eff did I just read?!?” So, here’s some actual details…
First off, let me apologize for the glassware used, but I was on vacation on the beach, and sadly, I had no Trappist glasses, or tulip glasses around. This one pours a bright golden/orange/amber color with a thick, two finger, off white head. The lacing is very thick with great retention.
I get a ton of aroma out of this beer, first I get earthy hops, oranges, grapefruit, and bubblegum, from the ale yeast strains.
On to the taste, I definitely get some earthy, and some citrusy hops, which gives a nice amount of bitterness. However, the flavor in this beer is great, I get sweet tastes of grapefruit and toasted malt, which works perfectly with the amount of bitterness for a great balance.
This one is really smooth, I was really multitasking when I wrote this review, so the beer had actually gotten almost warm when I arrived at the last sips of the 22 oz. bomber, but even to the last lukewarm sip, it was still tasty and went down smoothly. I think this beer wins the “high ABV% and goes down like tasty water award.”
Two thumbs up SweetWater, two thumbs up.
